How do I convert Greek text to speech?
Paste your Greek text into the box above. The voice list is already set to Greek, so pick Athina or Nestoras, press generate, and download the MP3. That’s all. The text must be in Greek letters (not Greeklish written with Latin letters) for the voice to read it correctly.
The Greek diaspora is large and close-knit. Astoria in Queens, Chicago’s Greektown and Melbourne in Australia all have communities where Greek school on Saturdays is a tradition. That is where a lot of Greek audio gets used: parents helping kids with homework, parish councils recording announcements, and family restaurants making short videos for both Greek and English-speaking customers.

Athina and Nestoras give the most native Greek accent. Check the language filter for the current list.
Try a Greek sentence
“Καλησπέρα σας! Σας ευχαριστούμε που επιλέξατε το εστιατόριό μας.”
English: “Good evening! Thank you for choosing our restaurant.”
Paste it above and play it with Athina. Then remove the accent marks and play it again. The stress moves, and some words start to sound odd. Greek accent marks (τόνος) tell the voice which syllable to stress, so keep them.

Tips for Greek scripts
Greek uses a semicolon-like mark (;) as its question mark. The voice understands it, so write questions the Greek way. Spell out numbers when they matter: είκοσι ευρώ instead of “20€”, or είκοσι δολάρια for a US audience. Greeklish (for example “kalimera”) will be read like English letters, so convert it to Greek script first.
If you need the same message in English for a mixed audience, generate it with a US English voice and post both. Names of saints, islands and dishes usually come out right because they are ordinary Greek words, but English brand names inside a Greek sentence may be read with Greek sounds. If a name matters, write it in Greek letters the way it is pronounced.
For a Greek school or a summer camp, a good routine is to make two clips of every reading passage: one at a slower speed for the first listen, and one at normal speed for the second. Kids follow the printed text with their finger, then try reading aloud on their own. For more ideas on sounding natural, read how to make an AI voiceover sound human.
