Who needs a French voice
French is the most commonly taught foreign language in many American high schools after Spanish, and it is an official language of Canada. That gives Speechma’s French text to speech a wide range of everyday users:
- Canadian businesses that must publish bilingual English–French videos, training and announcements for customers in Québec, New Brunswick and beyond.
- French teachers and AP French students who want model pronunciation for dialogues, dictées and vocabulary lists.
- Travelers and adult learners rehearsing restaurant phrases before a trip to Paris or Montréal.
- Brands expanding into Europe or Africa that need a quick French voiceover for a product demo or explainer.
- Louisiana and New England heritage families reconnecting with the language of grandparents.

How to choose the right French accent
- Decide where your listeners liveStudents in the US usually learn standard European French, so a France voice matches most textbooks. Customers in Canada expect a Québec voice; a Parisian accent can feel foreign to them.
- Match the vocabularyQuébec French uses words like courriel (email) and magasiner (to shop), while France says e-mail and faire du shopping. Write the script in the variety you picked.
- Preview two or three voicesPlay the built-in previews, then paste one real sentence from your script. Choose the voice that handles your brand name and numbers best.
- Fine-tune and downloadLower the speed slightly for learners, raise it for social video, then download the MP3.
French pronunciation tips
- Keep every accent mark. é, è, ê, à, ç and ô change pronunciation. Où (where) and ou (or) only differ by the accent.
- Mind 70, 80 and 90. France says soixante-dix and quatre-vingt-dix, while Belgium and Switzerland use septante and nonante. If you want a specific form, write the number out in words.
- Write numbers and prices in French format. 1 500,50 € in France, 1 500,50 $ in Québec. Spelling out vingt dollars is the safest choice.
- Spell out abbreviations. Write Monsieur and Madame instead of M. and Mme, and rue instead of r.
- Let punctuation set the rhythm. Commas give a short pause; a semicolon a medium one. French liaison (les amis → “lé-z-ami”) is handled naturally when the sentence is written correctly.
