How do I dub a video into another language with AI?
Upload the video to Speechma’s AI Dubbing tool, tell it which language is spoken, choose the language you want, and click Generate Dub. Speechma translates the speech and replaces it with a new voice, then gives you back the dubbed video to download as an MP4. You can dub into 9 languages: English (US), English (UK), Spanish, French, Hindi, Portuguese (Brazil), Italian, Japanese and Chinese. Automatic picks a natural native voice, or you can choose one yourself.
For US creators, Spanish is usually the first language to add: it opens your content to tens of millions of Spanish-speaking viewers at home and across Latin America. Online course creators often add Hindi and Portuguese next, and product companies dubbing demo videos often start with Japanese and Chinese for international customers.
Step-by-step: dub your video with Speechma

Which dubbing setup fits your video?
| Video type | Suggested first language | Voice setting | Tip |
|---|---|---|---|
| YouTube explainer | Spanish | Automatic voice | Translate the title and description too |
| Online course lesson | Hindi or Portuguese (Brazil) | Calm voice, slightly slower speed | Dub one lesson, gather feedback, then do the rest |
| Product demo | Japanese or Chinese | Professional voice | Keep on-screen text minimal or localized |
| Short-form social clip | Spanish | Energetic voice, slightly faster speed | Keep clips short for quick processing |
| UK audience version | English (UK) | British voice | Useful for US brands launching in the UK |
Video upload: MP4, MOV or WEBM up to 60 MB, or a direct video link. Longer videos are easiest to dub in shorter segments.
How do I add the dubbed audio to YouTube as a second language track?
YouTube lets eligible creators upload extra audio tracks so viewers can switch languages on the same video. According to YouTube Help, you sign in to YouTube Studio on desktop, select Languages, choose the video, click Add language, then next to “Dub” click Add, select your audio file and publish. The file must be audio-only and roughly the same length as the video, and the feature requires access to YouTube’s advanced features.
Speechma gives you the dubbed video as an MP4. To use it this way, export just the audio from that MP4 in your video editor first. If you don’t have the multi-language feature, publish the dubbed video as its own upload and link the two in the descriptions.
Tips for a dub that feels native
Start with clear speech
One speaker, a decent mic and little background noise give the cleanest translation and voice.
Localize the text on screen
Titles, lower thirds and captions in English break the illusion. Translate key on-screen words or keep text minimal.
Match the market
Pick English (UK) for British viewers and Portuguese (Brazil) for Brazil. Small regional choices build trust.
Tune the speed
If the dub feels rushed or slow, set the speech speed between 0.8x and 1.25x under More options.
Dub in segments
Split long videos into short chapters. Shorter clips dub faster and are easier to review and fix.
Get a native review
A five-minute check by a native speaker catches awkward phrasing before your audience does.
Troubleshooting AI dubbing
- My video file is bigger than 60 MB. Trim it into parts or export it at a lower resolution, then dub each part.
- I only have a link to the video. Paste it if it is a direct link to a video file ending in .mp4, .webm or .mov. Page links (like a YouTube page) will not work, so download your own video file and upload it instead.
- A brand name is translated or mispronounced. Check the result and, if needed, re-voice that line with text to speech in the target language and patch it in an editor.
- The dubbed speech feels rushed. Open More options and choose a slower speech speed (0.8x or 0.9x), or simplify long sentences in the original and try again.
