Copyright & DMCA Policy

Speechma respects the rights of creators, and we expect everyone who uses our free AI voice and music tools to do the same. This policy explains how to report copyright infringement under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), how to respond if your content was removed, and how we handle repeat infringers.

Last updated: October 5, 2026

1. Our approach to copyright

Our Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy require users to submit only content they own or are licensed to use, and prohibit using Speechma to infringe anyone’s intellectual property. We respond to clear notices of alleged copyright infringement that comply with the DMCA (17 U.S.C. §512) and other applicable laws.

How Speechma works matters here. Speechma does not host a public library of user uploads. Files you submit are processed to produce your result and are not stored on Speechma servers after processing, and generated results are delivered to your browser rather than kept by us. In practice, this means most copyright concerns relate to:

  • content published on speechma.com itself (for example, text, images, audio samples or guides on our pages);
  • conduct by a user of our tools or the Speechma API, such as repeatedly processing copyrighted songs or videos without permission; or
  • Outputs that someone created with Speechma and published elsewhere, such as on a video or music platform.

If infringing material is hosted on another website or platform, the fastest way to have it removed is usually to send a notice to that platform as well. We will still review your notice and take any action available to us.

2. How to submit a DMCA takedown notice

If you believe material available on or through Speechma infringes a copyright you own or are authorized to enforce, send a written notice by email to contact@speechma.com with the subject line “DMCA Notice.” Under 17 U.S.C. §512(c)(3), your notice must include substantially the following:

  1. A physical or electronic signature of a person authorized to act on behalf of the owner of the exclusive right that is allegedly infringed. A typed full name at the end of an email is generally accepted as an electronic signature.
  2. Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed or, if multiple works are covered by a single notice, a representative list of such works. Include a link to the original work or registration details if available.
  3. Identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing or to be the subject of infringing activity and that is to be removed or access to which is to be disabled, and information reasonably sufficient to permit us to locate it, such as the exact URL(s) on speechma.com or a description of the activity and when it occurred.
  4. Information reasonably sufficient to permit us to contact you, such as your full name, mailing address, telephone number and email address.
  5. A statement that you have a good faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent or the law.
  6. A statement that the information in the notice is accurate, and, under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed.

Notices that do not substantially include these elements may not be effective, and we may ask you for more information before we can act.

3. Before you send a notice

  • Consider fair use. Under U.S. law, some uses of copyrighted material, such as commentary, criticism, parody, news reporting, teaching and research, may be fair use and not infringement. Copyright owners must consider fair use before sending a takedown notice.
  • Be accurate. Under 17 U.S.C. §512(f), any person who knowingly materially misrepresents that material or activity is infringing may be liable for damages, including costs and attorneys’ fees. If you are not sure whether something infringes your rights, consider consulting an attorney.
  • Other rights. The DMCA process is for copyright only. Concerns about trademarks, a person’s voice or likeness, privacy or impersonation should be sent to contact@speechma.com with a clear subject line, and voice-related misuse can be reported under our AI Voice & Cloning Policy.
  • Sharing of notices. We may forward a copy of your notice, including your name and contact information, to the person who provided the material, so that they can understand the claim and respond.

4. What happens after we receive a valid notice

When we receive a notice that substantially complies with the DMCA, we will act expeditiously to remove or disable access to the material identified, where it is within our control, and we will take reasonable steps to notify the user or account holder responsible (where we can identify them) so they have the opportunity to respond with a counter-notice. Depending on the circumstances, we may also block related requests, restrict access to the Service, or suspend a Speechma API account.

Because Speechma does not store users’ uploads or generated results, we may be unable to locate or remove copies that exist only on a user’s device or on third-party platforms. In that case, we will let you know what we could do and suggest contacting the platform where the content is published.

5. How to submit a counter-notice

If material you provided was removed or disabled because of a DMCA notice and you believe in good faith that it was removed by mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notice by email to contact@speechma.com with the subject line “DMCA Counter-Notice.” Under 17 U.S.C. §512(g)(3), your counter-notice must include:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature.
  2. Identification of the material that has been removed or to which access has been disabled, and the location at which the material appeared before it was removed or disabled.
  3. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good faith belief that the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification of the material to be removed or disabled.
  4. Your name, address and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the Federal District Court for the judicial district in which your address is located (or, if your address is outside the United States, any judicial district in which Speechma may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who provided the original notice or an agent of that person.

When we receive a valid counter-notice, we will forward a copy to the person who sent the original notice. Unless that person informs us within 10 business days that they have filed a court action seeking to restrain you from engaging in the infringing activity, we may restore the material or cease disabling access to it within 10 to 14 business days after receiving the counter-notice, where it is within our control to do so.

Knowingly misrepresenting that material was removed by mistake may also expose you to liability under 17 U.S.C. §512(f).

6. Repeat infringer policy

In appropriate circumstances, and at our discretion, Speechma will terminate or block access to the Service for users who are repeat infringers. Because the free tools on speechma.com do not use accounts, this may include blocking access from devices, networks or IP addresses associated with repeated infringing activity, and terminating Speechma API accounts that are the subject of repeated valid notices. We may also limit access for users who infringe the intellectual property rights of others even if they are not repeat infringers.

7. Your responsibilities as a Speechma user

To avoid copyright problems when you use our tools:

  • Only upload songs, videos, recordings and scripts that you created, own or have a license to use.
  • Be especially careful with Vocal Remover, AI Voice Cover, AI Dubbing and Speech to Text, which often involve existing recordings. Processing a commercial song or film you do not have rights to may infringe copyright, even for personal projects that you later publish.
  • When using the Song Generator or Lyrics Generator, do not paste in copyrighted lyrics you do not have permission to use.
  • Remember that your license to use Outputs does not include rights in third-party material contained in your Inputs.

8. Speechma’s own content

The Speechma website, including its text, design, guides, graphics, logos, voice previews and software, is protected by copyright and other laws. Except for the Outputs you generate and as allowed by law, you may not copy, republish or redistribute our content without permission. If you would like to quote or link to our guides, short excerpts with a link back to the source page are welcome. For other uses, please ask at contact@speechma.com.

9. Contact

All copyright notices and counter-notices should be sent to contact@speechma.com with the subject line “DMCA Notice” or “DMCA Counter-Notice.” For general questions about this policy, email the same address and we will be happy to help.
