1. Your choices at a glance
Speechma does not require an account, does not store your uploads after processing and does not keep your generated results. That means most of your privacy is protected by design. The choices that remain are mainly about two things: advertising and analytics cookies used by Google, and data saved in your own browser so your history and settings are there when you come back.
- Opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for personalized ads (Section 2).
- Send a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser (Section 3).
- Turn off personalized ads from Google and other ad companies (Section 4).
- Limit Google Analytics (Section 5).
- Clear your Speechma history, audio and settings from your device (Section 6).
- Ask us to access, delete or correct information, or exercise other rights (Section 7).
For full details of what we collect and why, read our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.
2. Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information
Speechma does not sell personal information for money, and we never sell or rent the text, files or recordings you submit. However, the free Service is funded by Google AdSense. When Google uses cookies and similar identifiers to show you ads based on your activity across websites, California law (the CCPA as amended by the CPRA) and several other U.S. state laws may treat that as “selling” or “sharing” personal information for “cross-context behavioral advertising” or “targeted advertising.”
You have the right to opt out. You can do so in any of these ways:
- Use Global Privacy Control. Turn on GPC in a supported browser or extension (see Section 3). This is the fastest and most reliable way.
- Use the privacy or consent controls on our site where they are shown to you, and choose not to allow personalized advertising.
- Turn off ad personalization with Google at adssettings.google.com (see Section 4).
- Email us at contact@speechma.com with the subject “Do Not Sell or Share.” Tell us your state of residence. Because we do not have accounts, we will apply your request using the means available to us and explain any browser-based steps you should also take.
Opting out does not remove ads. You will still see ads, but they will be non-personalized or less personalized, based on general context such as the page you are viewing and your approximate location. Opting out does not affect your ability to use any Speechma tool, and we will never charge you or treat you differently for using your privacy rights.
Because opt-outs for cookies are stored in your browser, they apply to the browser and device you use. If you clear your cookies or switch browsers or devices, you may need to opt out again, unless your browser sends GPC automatically.
3. Global Privacy Control (GPC)
Global Privacy Control is a setting in some browsers and browser extensions that automatically tells every website you visit that you do not want your personal information sold or shared. Several U.S. states, including California and Colorado, require businesses to treat GPC as a valid opt-out request.
How Speechma handles GPC. When we detect a GPC signal from your browser, we treat it as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information for personalized advertising, and we apply it to ad personalization where technically feasible, for example by requesting non-personalized ads. The opt-out applies to the browser that sends the signal. You do not need to do anything else on our site.
How to turn it on. Some privacy-focused browsers send GPC by default or offer it as a privacy setting, and GPC is available through privacy extensions for other popular browsers. Look for “Global Privacy Control” or “Tell websites not to sell or share my data” in your browser’s privacy settings. You can learn more at globalprivacycontrol.org.
Do Not Track. The older “Do Not Track” browser setting has no agreed standard, so we do not respond to it differently. GPC is the signal we recognize.
4. Turn off personalized ads
Ads on Speechma are served by Google AdSense. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, personalized ads and related cookies are used only if you give consent through the consent message shown on our site, and you can change your choice at any time. Everywhere, you can also manage ad personalization directly:
- Google ad settings. Visit adssettings.google.com (My Ad Center) to turn off personalized ads from Google. If you are signed in to a Google Account, the setting follows your account across devices; if not, it applies to your current browser.
- Industry opt-out pages. Many advertising companies let you opt out of interest-based ads through the Digital Advertising Alliance at optout.aboutads.info and, in Europe, youronlinechoices.eu.
- Browser controls. You can block or delete third-party cookies in your browser settings. This limits ad personalization across sites. Blocking all cookies may affect how some websites work.
- Mobile devices. On Android, you can delete or reset your advertising ID in Settings under Privacy or Google > Ads. On iPhone and iPad, you can limit app tracking in Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.
To learn how Google uses information from websites that show its ads, visit policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
5. Limit analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how the website is used. You can stop Google Analytics from collecting data about your visits by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on from tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, or by blocking cookies from Google Analytics in your browser.
Our own first-party statistics do not use cookies and do not store your IP address. They rely on an anonymized identifier that changes every day and are reduced to aggregated counts, so there is nothing personal to opt out of. If you still want us to exclude you, email us and we will explain the options.
6. Clear your Speechma data from your device
To give you history, favorites and remembered settings without an account, Speechma saves some information in your browser’s local storage (localStorage and IndexedDB). This can include generated audio, your list of past generations, favorite voices, draft text and preferences. This data lives on your device, not on our servers, so only you can delete it, and once it is deleted we cannot recover it.
Delete individual items
Use the delete or clear buttons in each tool’s history and favorites to remove specific items. Download anything you want to keep first.
Delete everything Speechma has stored in your browser
- Chrome (desktop): click the icon to the left of the address bar on speechma.com, choose Site settings, then Delete data. Or go to Settings > Privacy and security > Site settings > View permissions and data stored across sites, search for speechma.com and delete it.
- Edge: Settings > Cookies and site permissions > Manage and delete cookies and site data > See all cookies and site data, search for speechma.com and delete it.
- Firefox: click the padlock in the address bar on speechma.com and choose Clear cookies and site data.
- Safari (Mac): Safari > Settings > Privacy > Manage Website Data, search for speechma.com and choose Remove.
- iPhone and iPad: Settings > Apps > Safari > Advanced > Website Data, search for speechma.com and swipe to delete (menu names can vary by iOS version).
- Android (Chrome): open Chrome, tap the menu > Settings > Site settings > All sites, choose speechma.com and tap Delete or Clear & reset.
Browser menus change over time; if a step looks different, search your browser’s help pages for “clear site data.” Using a private or incognito window also prevents Speechma data from being kept after you close the window.
7. Make a privacy request (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA and other laws)
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict processing, to withdraw consent, and to opt out of targeted advertising, sale or sharing. These rights are explained in our Privacy Policy.
How to send a request: email contact@speechma.com with the subject line “Privacy Request” and include:
- which right you want to exercise (for example, access or deletion);
- your country or U.S. state of residence;
- details that help us find any relevant information, such as the email address you used to contact us or the approximate date of a support conversation; and
- if you are an authorized agent, proof that the person you represent has authorized you to act for them.
What to expect. We will confirm receipt and respond within the time required by law, usually within 30 days for GDPR requests and 45 days for U.S. state law requests (extendable in some cases, in which case we will tell you). We may ask for reasonable information to verify your identity, and we will only use that information for verification. Because we do not have user accounts and do not keep your uploads or results, we often hold little or no personal information that can be linked to you. When that is the case, we will tell you clearly rather than leaving you guessing.
Appeals and complaints. If we decline your request, you can appeal by replying with the subject “Privacy Appeal,” and we will review the decision. If you are in the EEA or UK, you can also complain to your local data protection authority or the UK Information Commissioner’s Office; residents of some U.S. states can contact their state Attorney General.
8. Choices about what you submit
The simplest privacy choice is about what you put into the tools. A few practical tips:
- Avoid typing personal details such as addresses, account numbers or health information into scripts unless you need them in the audio.
- When cloning or changing a voice, only use your own voice or a voice you have clear permission to use, as required by our AI Voice & Cloning Policy.
- Download the results you want to keep, then clear your history on shared or public computers.
- If you contact us, include only the information we need to help you.
9. Questions about your choices
If anything on this page is unclear, or a setting does not seem to work as described, please email contact@speechma.com. We are happy to walk you through your options.
