How to choose the right Hindi voice
Start by deciding whether your script is pure Hindi, Hinglish (Hindi mixed with English words) or English for an Indian audience. Each points to a different setup:
- Pure Hindi (news-style, devotional, formal lessons): use a Hindi voice and write everything in Devanagari.
- Hinglish (tech reviews, vlogs, casual explainers): use a Hindi voice and write the English words in Devanagari too, for example मोबाइल, लैपटॉप, डाउनलोड. The voice will pronounce them the way Indian viewers say them.
- English for India: choose an English (India) voice for familiar pronunciation and rhythm.
For tone, a calm and steady voice works for devotional and educational content, while a lively voice at slightly higher speed suits tech and shorts.
Pronunciation tips for Hindi
- Write in Devanagari. Romanized Hindi (“aap kaise hain”) is not read as natural Hindi. Type आप कैसे हैं instead. Most phones and computers have a free Hindi keyboard.
- Use the danda for pauses. The Hindi full stop । creates a natural sentence break; commas add shorter pauses.
- Spell out large numbers the Indian way. Hindi listeners think in लाख (lakh) and करोड़ (crore). Write दो लाख रुपये instead of “2,00,000” or “200,000”.
- Mind nuktas and nasal marks. Dots and marks like ज़, फ़ and ं (anusvara) change the sound. Typing them correctly keeps words like ज़रूर accurate.
- Keep sentences short for narration. Two short sentences sound clearer than one long sentence full of commas.

Checklist for a Hindi YouTube voiceover
- Write the full script in Devanagari, including English tech words (स्मार्टफोन, सब्सक्राइब).
- Open with a short hook of one or two sentences, then pause with a । before the main content.
- Split scripts longer than 2,000 characters into sections and convert each one; “download all” gives you a ZIP for your editor.
- Use the same voice and speed for every section so the video sounds consistent.
- End with a clear call to action, such as “वीडियो पसंद आए तो लाइक और सब्सक्राइब ज़रूर करें।” (“If you liked the video, be sure to like and subscribe.”)
Sample Hindi sentence
