First, what Speechma is not
Let’s be clear up front. HeyGen is an AI video platform: it creates talking avatars, builds videos, and translates existing videos. Speechma has no avatars and does not generate video. If you need a digital presenter, HeyGen (or a similar avatar tool) is the right category.
This page is for people who use HeyGen for one thing: translating a video they already filmed. That might be a founder’s update for Spanish-speaking customers, a YouTube tutorial for a French audience, or a short course clip for Brazil. For that single job, Speechma’s free AI dubbing may be all you need.

Which one should you use?
Pick HeyGen if lip-sync matters (close-up talking heads, ads where mouths are clearly visible), if you translate long videos, if you need many languages in one go, or if you also want avatars. HeyGen’s strength is that it is a full video studio.
Pick Speechma if your videos are short, you want to pay nothing, you do not want another account, or you prefer that your video is never stored on the tool’s servers. It is also handy for screen recordings, product demos and slideshows, where lip-sync is not needed anyway.
Tip: for talking-head clips, frame wider shots or add B-roll over parts of the dubbed video. Viewers notice mouth movements much less when the speaker is not filling the screen.
Getting a clean result
- Use clear audio. One speaker, little background noise. Music under speech makes the speech harder to understand and translate.
- Keep sentences short when you film. Translations often run longer; short lines keep the dub natural. You can also adjust the speech speed from 0.8x to 1.25x.
- Check names and brand terms. Watch the dub once with the sound on to hear how they were translated.
- Get permission. Only dub videos you own or have the rights to.
