Can I convert Urdu text to speech online for free?
Yes. Paste Urdu text into the tool at the top, choose a voice from Pakistan or India, and press generate. Your MP3 is ready in seconds. The voices read standard Urdu script written right to left, so paste it exactly as you would type it in WhatsApp or Word.
Urdu audio is used far beyond Pakistan. There are large Pakistani and Urdu-speaking communities in the UK (Bradford, Birmingham, East London), the US (New York, Houston, Chicago) and Canada (Mississauga, Toronto). Mosque committees share event details. Families send voice greetings for Eid. Small businesses advertise to customers who are more comfortable in Urdu. Second-generation kids who speak Urdu but can’t read it use audio to connect the spoken language to the script.

For a Pakistani audience, start with Uzma or Asad. For Urdu speakers in India, try Gul or Salman.
Why should the script match the voice’s gender?
In Urdu, verbs change with the speaker’s gender. A man says میں آ رہا ہوں (I am coming) and a woman says میں آ رہی ہوں. If your text is written in the first person, match it to the voice: use the feminine form with Uzma or Gul and the masculine form with Asad or Salman. Listeners notice when the grammar and the voice don’t agree.
The same rule applies to adjectives and many everyday phrases, so read your script once with the chosen voice in mind before you generate.
Here is a neutral sample you can try with any voice:
“خوش آمدید! آج ہماری دکان میں ہر چیز پر بیس فیصد رعایت ہے۔”
English: “Welcome! Today everything in our store is twenty percent off.”

Tips for better Urdu audio
- Use Urdu script, not Roman Urdu. “Aap kaise hain” in Latin letters will not be read correctly. Convert it to Urdu script first.
- End sentences with the Urdu full stop (۔). It gives the voice a clean pause.
- Write amounts in words for ads. پانچ سو روپے (five hundred rupees) or دس ڈالر (ten dollars) is clearer than digits.
- Check English words. Many Urdu speakers mix in English. Common words are fine, but brand names can be written in Urdu letters as they are pronounced.
- Keep it conversational. Short sentences sound warmer than long formal ones in voice messages.
