What is the best free AI song generator?
The answer depends on what you need at the end. If you just want to hear an idea, almost any tool works. If you want a file for a YouTube video, a birthday surprise, a jingle for your shop or a client, the free plan has to let you download the song and use it commercially. That is where most free tiers stop.
Speechma is the only tool in this list that offers all three on free: download, commercial use and no sign-up. Suno is a strong creative playground with paid plans for downloads. ElevenLabs and Gemini are good for personal experiments. We checked every competitor fact below on the company’s own site in October 2026, and we say “not stated” instead of guessing.

Pros and cons of each AI song generator
- 1. Speechma: best free songs you can actually publish. Write your own lyrics with
[Verse]and[Chorus]tags or let it write them from a topic, describe the style, pick 30 seconds to 8 minutes and one of 50 languages. Add an optional style reference track, or tick Instrumental only. Commercial use is included. Cons: each generation needs a 5-digit security code, there is no account or cloud library (songs stay in your browser until you download them), and you can not edit one section of a song; you generate again. - 2. Suno: best for exploring ideas daily. 50 free credits a day to try styles and prompts. The Pro plan, listed at $8 a month, adds 2,500 credits a month, 20 song downloads a month and commercial use rights. Cons: the free plan lists no monthly song downloads, no commercial rights and no stem separation.
- 3. ElevenLabs Music: best if you already use ElevenLabs. Songs with vocals and lyrics in many languages, with the same account as its voice tools. Cons: account needed, free music is personal use only, and credits are shared with speech and sound effects.
- 4. Gemini app with Lyria 3: best quick 30-second clip. Google announced in February 2026 that Gemini can turn a text idea, photo or video into a 30-second track with lyrics and cover art, in English, German, Spanish, French, Hindi, Japanese, Korean and Portuguese. Tracks carry Google’s invisible SynthID watermark. Cons: 30 seconds is short for a full song, users must be 18 or older, and the announcement does not state commercial terms.
- 5. Mureka: an option worth testing. Its site says it creates full songs, vocals, lyrics and instrumentals from text prompts, and offers a free try. Cons: we could not find free-plan limits or commercial terms on its public pages, so read the terms after you sign in.
What should you check before you pick one?
- Can you download on free? A song you can only stream inside an app will not help with a TikTok, a Reel or a slideshow.
- Is commercial use allowed? Monetized YouTube videos, ads, podcasts, store videos and client work are all commercial. On several tools that needs a paid plan.
- How long can the song be? Short clips are fine for a meme; a first dance or a birthday song needs a full structure with verses and choruses.
- Which languages can it sing? If your audience speaks Spanish, Hindi or Tagalog, test those first.
- Can you control the words? Writing your own lyrics gives you a song that is truly yours. Our free Lyrics tool can draft them for you in 50 languages.
Whatever tool you use, do not ask for a song “by” or “in the voice of” a real artist, and do not upload someone else’s song as a reference to copy it. YouTube also asks creators to disclose AI-generated music that is the main focus of a video.
How to test an AI song generator in five minutes
- Use one short test lyricTwo short verses and a chorus, for example a 60-second song about a dog named Max who loves the beach.
- Use the same style promptName the vocal type first:
female vocal, upbeat pop, acoustic guitar, hand claps, 110 bpm. - Check the wordsListen for skipped or mumbled lines. Clear diction matters more than a fancy mix.
- Read the licenseConfirm the plan you used allows your purpose before you publish.
